Formerly, the Hollywood Lane Parade. The 83rd annual Christmas parade is back Sunday, November 30th 2014. Hosted by Laura McKenzie and Erik Estrada with Grand Marshal Stevie Wonder.
With special guests Dean Cain and Montel Williams. Participants include celebrities, marching bands, characters, equestrians, special groups, and giant balloons.
I used to march with the Long Beach Junior Concert band as the first female cymbal player. My mother used to be in the band as tall flags in the 80s and once my sister joined in 2008, I joined right after. My first year in the Hollywood Christmas Parade I marched holding tall flags in the back with my mom and little sister. My second year I marched with the percussion section as a cymbal player. Below is from 2008, my sister on the left, my mom in the middle, and me on the right.
It was one of the most amazing experiences. The Hollywood Christmas parade is something to not miss. You can purchase seats in the grand stands or find a spot to sit on the streets.
The Long Beach Junior Concert Band is the band that ends the parade. Once they arrive in the camera area/ grand stands they split down the middle for the grand finale: Santa!
